As the second season of
Dragon Ball GT gets under way, Goku is still battling Baby, the last survivor of the Tuffle (originally Tsufrulian) race. It's a relief to the galaxy when Goku's Ultimate Kamehameha Blast sends Baby's ship into the sun. Once Baby's been dispatched, the filmmakers seem to lose their way. The Z Fighters evacuate all the residents of Earth to the Tuffle Planet before the Black Dragon Balls cause the Earth to explode, but the Namekian Dragon Balls restore the planet before anyone's had a chance to miss it. The remainder of the season plays like a "greatest hits" album. Dr. Gero, Frieza, Cell, and Android 17 from seasons 3, 4, and 5 of
Dragon Ball Z reappear and are defeated again. Goku reverts to his little boy form, which makes him appear younger than his granddaughter Pan. It seems Goku and his friends have used the Dragon Balls too many times: all the good things they've wished for have been balanced by huge amounts of negative energy retained in the Balls, which crack, releasing the seven nasty Shadow Dragons. Goku and Pan fight them, first one by one, then as a fused super-dragon. Also included is
A Hero's Legacy, which aired as a television special in 1997. Set 100 years after the conclusion of
Dragon Ball GT, it stars Pan's grandson "Goku, Jr." as a wimpy little boy who's just discovering his Saiyan powers.
